References and Sources — A Map of What Is Borrowed

The traditions, science, and thinkers this journal stands on — opened thin, grown as the derivation proceeds

The form carries — a map of what is borrowed, not a bibliography. The contents do not
carry wholesale. Verkhovyna, Carpathian Mountains, Ukraine.

1. Standing — Why This Map Opens Thin

This journal has a predecessor: a completed pilgrimage on northern ground, whose reference corpus several documents here grew out of. The borrowing is recorded once, here, and not repeated on every page.

This map
opens before the architecture exists, and its discipline is the migration
map's strictest rule: no tradition is grandfathered. A witness that served the predecessor container enters this map only when the Verkhovyna derivation calls it — or
when it is already doing confirmed structural work for this journal, which
is the sole criterion for Section 2 below.

Two ledgers follow. Section 2 holds borrowings already made — sources the
migrated reference corpus actually stands on today. Section 3 holds the
candidate ledger — traditions of this ground that may become witnesses, owed
nothing yet except the ethics of approach. The distinction is the map's
whole point: a borrowing is recorded when it is real, not when it is anticipated.

2. Borrowings Already Made

Traditional Chinese Medicine. The twelve organ systems in their circadian
round — the day's inner structure and the journal's most exercised
framework. A living tradition accessed through practice and multiple
transmissions, not a single text. Reference:
REFERENCE_tcm_organ_round_carpathian_v0_1.md.

Rudolf Steiner — the twelve senses. Compiler, not inventor, of the
twelve-sense taxonomy; also the source of the year-as-earth-breath image the
rhythm map found already load-bearing in the container's self-description —
the fact that made this framework's migration honest. Reference:
REFERENCE_twelve_senses_carpathian_v0_1.md.

Joseph Campbell — The Mythic Image (1974), with Jung behind him. The
borrowing method itself: resonance before understanding, the three
requirements, and — added on this ground — the fourth, consent by
relationship. The borrowing here is methodological and total: every other entry
in this map is handled by Campbell's rules. Reference:
REFERENCE_campbell_borrowing_method_carpathian_v0_1.md.

Charles Fillmore — Metaphysical Bible Dictionary. Twelve faculties of
consciousness as the instrument's third map, cross-checking senses and
organs. Held as finding, not doctrine. Reference:
REFERENCE_fillmore_faculties_carpathian_v0_1.md.

Marshall B. Rosenberg — Nonviolent Communication. The four steps, wolf
and giraffe, needs versus strategies — Michel's own ground since 2019, and
the discipline beneath the journal's register rule. Source: interview by
David Luczyn and Serena Rust, MultiMind 5/04. Reference:
REFERENCE_rosenberg_nvc_carpathian_v0_1.md.

Zach Bush MD. The soil-gut argument — one system, not two — borrowed at
exactly the depth it has earned, re-routed here through pasture and herd.
Reference: REFERENCE_zach_bush_soil_gut_carpathian_v0_1.md.

The Hebrew breastplate — Exodus 28. Provisional entry. The twelve stones
migrate breastplate-by-default with reversibility flagged (migration map,
item 3.3); the stone question — hoshen or this ground's own stone — remains
Michel's open call. The borrowing is recorded as conditional until it is.

Maria Thun lineage — the biodynamic sowing calendar. The printed
calendar as instrument of record for lunar hours; consulted in testimony
mode only, after the body has reported, per the locked register rules.

Buckminster Fuller. Named here as pending, not entered: the Fuller
reference migrates last, after the derivation yields the journal's own
question (migration map, item 3.5). The borrowing is anticipated and therefore,
by this map's own rule, not yet recorded.

3. The Candidate Ledger — This Ground's Own Witnesses

Owed nothing yet. Each entry waits on two gates: the phase derivation
(decision 3.3) and, for the valley's living traditions, the relationship
gate — the Campbell fourth requirement. Listed so nothing is lost; described
at surface depth deliberately, because depth is earned in the approach.

Hutsul cosmology and the pastoral round. The valley's own keeping — the
feasts in their lived style, the polonyna year, vatra and trembita and the
send-off complex, what is spoken and what is only done. The primary
candidate, and the one most strictly gated by relationship: the hosts and the community around them are the source, and Shukhevych and Vincenz only the
preparation for listening.

Hryhorii Skovoroda. The wandering philosopher — the world that hunted
him and never caught him, the kinship of knowledge, the garden of divine
songs. A Ukrainian witness for a journal now partly in Ukrainian.

Hesychasm and the living church. The prayer of the heart, stillness as
practice — reaching the valley through the church it actually walks to, in
whichever calendar it keeps. Gated also by the calendar question.

Toloka. Communal work as institution — practiced in this country, not
cited from it. If it enters, it enters through days worked, not pages read.

The Hasidism of the Cheremosh. The Baal Shem Tov's seven years between
Kuty and Kosiv; God found in nature; the Kosiv and Vyzhnytsia lineages. A
neighbour tradition whose local community was annihilated 1941–1944 — the
obligation, if incurred, is owed partly to an absence, and the Campbell reference names that as a heavier kind of obligation. Approached, if at all, with exactly
that weight.

The deep layers. Trypillia at the mountains' margin, the Bronze Age
herding cultures, the White Croats, the opryshky and Dovbush, the
Kryvorivnia intelligentsia — held in the stratigraphy reference as ground,
entering the journal only as encountered: a cave walked to, a loanword
heard, a memorial passed.

4. Working Sources Behind the Corpus

The stratigraphy reference (REFERENCE_stratigraphy_festivals_verkhovyna_v0_1.md)
carries the named, web-checked sources for the historical and festival
claims, with verification levels marked — that document remains the citation
authority for the ground layer, and this map does not duplicate it. To
consult before any candidate is elevated: Shukhevych's Hutsulshchyna
(1899–1908), Vincenz's On the High Uplands, and Hutsul-specific folk-calendar
scholarship, as already listed there.
